http://www.gearslutz.com/board/product- ... clone.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
yes the inner design changed.
The PRIME SSL4000 is my own Unit.
I got enough of the gyraf design and made my own "one block" pcb, which
offers all known extensions one one pcb,
Which do not chance the ssl characteristic.
That are:
1. Oxford mode: it is now (like in the real ssl design) a dual sidechain
prozessing which is summed at the and, and not a summed mono sidechain
prozess like before (google oxford mode: the gyraf tend to overcompress
at centered bass signals, which my do not.
2. Full symmetrical sidechain input.
3. improved psu, for less hum.
the 202 dbx is expensive to get and it is getting old now, i thought
about reproducing them, lets see. At the moment i use the THAT 2180
Selection A vca. this vca has a performance, which was unthinkable 20
years before.
I think the amazing sound comes mostly from the sidechain prozessing and
on the second stage from the vca.
