Ca fait des années que j'ai envie d'essayer du PAIA, mais je n'ai jamais pu avoir l'avis de qui que ce soit sur leurs modules. Je ne sais donc pas quelle peut être la qualité de cette nouvelle série, mais les prix sont vraiment très intéressants.

Yes, the Blacet modules play nicely with the ARP 2600. I have a fair number of modules from Metalbox, Wiard, and Blacet, and I've yet to discover any that don't work with the ARP 2600. I actually got modules from Blacet and Metalbox for the sake of expanding my 2600. I started by building a Paia 9700 which was great building experience, but of little value as a synth. I then expanded into Blacet and Metalbox. It's kind of funny how things have turned out, though. As my frac system has grown, I find that I rarely even turn the 2600 on anymore. The beauty of expanding into the Frac format is that you have more options that just about any other format. Some modules which are personal favorites of mine are the Blacet Miniwave with the Hylander ROM expander, the Metalbox Sequential Switch, and the EFM MS-20 filter clone.

Re: Paia VCOs: It depends on your level of knowledge, skill, and what you expect. If you are expecting the tracking and stability that you get from the average 2600, you'll be sorely disappointed with them. If you're looking for kit building experience, they're an awesome place to start as their instruction manuals take you from zero to hear in no time, even providing a tutorial on soldering. However, to gain the level of functionality that you'd get from other commercially available VCOs (i.e. accurate tracking, correct waveshapes, controllable tuning, etc. you'll need to do some modifications. These are not covered in the manual, or on any website I've seen thus far. (Don't get the wrong idea... mine aren't modded, and I'm not holding anything back. I lack the EE knowledge to make these mods myself.) If this isn't what you're looking for, I'd advise you to check out Blacet's excellent VCOs.

I own three Blacet VCOs, however, and I've been exceptionally pleased with them. IMHO, they are a bargain in kit form ($185) as opposed to the excellent (but rather pricey) Modcan 01A's ($399) or Cynthia's Zerooscillator ($995). Not saying the others aren't worth it... you'll have to pry my 01A's and ZO's from my cold dead hands, but just saying that buying the Paia VCO over the Blacet is false economy. Sure, you'll save $45, but in the end, you won't have a useable VCO without extensive modifications, so what's the point?

PAIA pour moi, c'est un peu comme Elektor à la bonne période, mais en plus spécialisé SDIY....

Je sais que pas mal de leur réalisations ont bonne réputation (string machine, Gnome, drumbox, effets, synthés....)...Dommage qu'il n'y ai pas de VCO low cost...Heureusement, il nous reste Yves....

Question son, lors de ma récente quête pour un vocodeur, j'avais été très déçu par le vocodeur PAIA: Sonorités maigres et confuses.
C'est vrai que les kits ne sont pas chers du tout...

Au niveau douane, un kit en provenance des USA, ça douille autant qu'un produit fini?

j'ai un vocoder PAIA...au fond d'un placard. J'ai été assez déçu par le son absolument pas intelligible de la bestiole, c'est trop brouillon, pas exploitable avec un micro pour faire Astro le petit robot.
